Madina Kane and her niece.

I met Madina Kane, a bright and charming university student, several months ago at the beach in Nouakchott. Her friends and I often shared the same parasol in order not to burn from the sun. There was something about her I wanted to photograph but never got the time. I left for Mali and Niger in June 2012 and only came back to Nouakchott on the 2nd week of November 2012 for a visit. I again went to the beach, one of the main attractions around town. Late on a Friday afternoon (Friday and Saturday are the weekend in Mauritania) I was lucky enough to see Madina again, and to meet her adorable niece, Dielia, for the first time.
