Due to rainfall deficit and failed harvests in the past year, the Sahel region is undergoing an increasingly severe drought. Half-lines and Zaï (holes to facilitate water infiltration and increase soil moisture) are dug with hand tools, in order to help prevent drought and help for future crops. The project is financed by the European Union.
